"Mystery Readers are never clueless after the first chapter"
I finished two more books:
The Last Coyote by Michael Connelly #4 Harry Bosch series
The Gift by Julie Garwood
I needed something light and fluffy to read after Harry Bosch. Sometimes all the death and murder is too much even though I love a great mystery.
The Last Coyote was a chance to get to know Harry Bosch in yet another way. He was on leave from his post and decided it was time to solve his mother's murder case. Maybe, he went into this field in order to accomplish this feat..or not. Harry has to proceed in order for his life to continue so he thinks. He needs to know what happened to his mother and deal with the abandonment he has felt these many long years. A great series to read by Michael not to mention his writing is out of this world probably because of his journalism years. His characters are so real and their personal lives so in-depth one is ultimately drawn into Harry's world and you will root for his good vs evil business.
The Gift is a light-fluffy romance Pirate read and just what the reading doctor order for me. I love swashbuckling sea romance stories. Not really sure why.....it wasn't easy on the sea then as now on cruise ships etc.???? LOL! Julie Garwood is up there with my other favorite romance writer Johanna Lindsey. Along with my diverse reading selections I also can go from classical music to rap music. I have a wide range for variety it seems!
So my next two reads with be Nature Girl by Carl Hiaasen and Bobbie Faye's Very (Very, Very, Very) Bad Day by Toni McGee Causey. I believe both of these are going to make me laugh out loud.
I have two and 1/2 hours on Tuesdays starting this next week that I will be able to read during my daughter's dance classes. Looking forward to this large block of time!!!!
Has anyone checked out Shelfari.com yet? What a great place to log and record all your books you own or have read. Plus, posting your reviews and meeting new friends! I have met some wonderful individuals who read like mad...Just like me! I have joined several different groups for a diverse crowd and to find new authors/books to read. I have even chatted with two authors Vicki Lewis Thompson and Monica Burns. My newest friend on the shelf is from Belgium. How exciting is that!!! I love it!!!! A chance to talk to many about my love for reading is always a plus in my life. Whether blogging, reading or reviewing my books, I just can't get enough! Check out Shelfari today and see my page (Magpie) and the Avocabookclub page.
Speaking of exciting news....I hope we will have a picture to post up of Joy meeting Donald Harstad in Tipton, Iowa this past Saturday. Donald's book Eleven Days was our first pick when the club started in September 2002. Joy was getting her and I a copy of the book to get personally signed by Donald. Great news for our club!!!
I have met and would love to see her again, Alex Kava! She is such a nice lady and writes great books! I got my picture taken with her and maybe I can get these posted too!
Thanks for reading with me!
